  • Address Noeun-ri, Hongbuk-eup, Hongseong-gun, Chungcheongnam-do

This was the residence of Seong Sam-mun’s mother’s side of the family and his birthplace.

Seong Sam-mun was one of the six martyred ministers who opposed Suyang Daegun (Prince Suyang) who forced his young nephew Danjong to abdicate from the throne so that he could take his place. Seong Sam-mun, known for his significant contribution to the creation of Hunminjeongeum, as a scholar at Jiphyeonjeon, during the reign of King Sejong (reigned from 1418 to 1456), was killed for maintaining his loyalty to Danjong.

In 1954, the Hongseong Ancient Monument Promotion Society repaired the altar on site, and a memorial service has been held to honor Seong Sam-mun on October 20 in the lunar calendar annually ever since. The former altar was situated about 50m northeast of the current site, and the Memorial Stone for Seong Sam-mun can be found 30m away in front of the village.
