Bird Science Center

Bird Science Center

It is a modern 3-story building, which educates the visitors on the types and ecological characteristics of birds on the first floor, offers experience programs (e.g. videos, flight experience) and contains a high-magnitude telescope and exploration facilities on the second floor, On the observation deck, visitors can see Anmyeondo Island and Gung-ri inlet at a glance.

The Bird Science Center was established with the aim to observe the migratory birds that come to the Cheonsuman Bay area, which is one of the largest sanctuaries for migratory birds in the world. It is situated in an area that offers a great view of the west coast, and one can watch the birds dancing together against the west coastline as the backdrop.

The Bird Science Center aims to promote the understanding of migratory birds and raises awareness of the importance of nature by allowing interactions with the birds. They are also taking a scientific approach to teach the visitors the principles behind bird flight with the use of the "sky bicycle." Also, the Cheonsuman Wellbeing Restaurant shows the ecological characteristics of migratory birds with food made with the main prey of the birds. The permanent exhibition hall displays the migration route with the stops indicated as train stations, bus terminals and airports.

The Bird Science Center is praised for having differentiated itself from other similar facilities as the actual ecological conditions were depicted using artistic models and images. The center is the busiest in the winter season when the area receives a number of migratory birds.
